COMPANY BACKGROUND

Maritime Quality Consultants, Inc. (MQC) was established in 1995 by Peter H. Hames to provide auditing, training, and consulting services to the marine industry.   Since inception, the company has assisted a broad range of clients including ship owners, ship managers, shipping agencies, marine surveyors, stevedores, terminal operators, tug boat operators, line handling companies, and marine salvage providers.  In addition, we have assisted two companies in the rivet and fastener industry and several other service industry companies.  Mr. Hames has successfully taken twenty-two companies through ISO 9001 and/or ISM Code Quality/Safety Management System certification.  In each case, the company was successful on their first certification audit.

Mr. Hames has taught a five day Lead Auditor Training Course to more than 200 marine industry professionals in the US, Canada, Hong Kong, Bombay, and Panama.  His students include officers from the United States and Canadian Coast Guards, representatives from several classification societies and a number of Panama Canal Pilots.  Mr. Hames is a registered lead auditor and conducts ISO 9001 Certification Audits for ISOQAR.  He audits a wide range of companies in the service industry including two of the largest telemarketing companies in North America.

MQC offers a one day Internal Auditing course, which qualifies students to be internal auditors for their company.  This course is part of our consulting package and has been very well received in the industry.

We also offer a half day Introductory Seminar on the implementation of ISO 9001.  Mr. Hames has received very high marks for this seminar which demystifies the process of ISO 9001 certification.
